The Cardinal Card is an all-purpose identification card offering many different campus services including access to the library, cash purchases at on and off campus locations, meal plan utilization, and residence hall access. There is no charge for the first Cardinal Card. However, there is a $30 fee for lost or stolen cards.
Once enrolled at Catholic University, each student receives a unique ID number. This number allows a student to have a photo taken and placed on their Cardinal Card. Students can send in an official ID photo in advance of their arrival on campus by following the Identification Office link on the Department of Public Safety web site. The Cardinal Card can be picked up at the Department of Public Safety Traffic/ID Card office in Leahy Hall (Room 121). A photo ID, like a driver’s license, may be required to pick up the card. ID photos can also be taken and a Cardinal Card created while on campus at the Department of Public Safety Traffic/ID Card office.
The Cardinal Card provides two different accounts for students to use. Dining Dollars are associated with meal plans and can only be used at on-campus dining service locations like Starbucks. Additional funds can be added to Dining Dollars ONLY for those students participating in student meal plans. Cardinal Cash is a debit account allowing students to make purchases anywhere the Cardinal Card is accepted such as the campus bookstore or the local Domino’s Pizza. You can add Dining Dollars and Cardinal Cash at the Cardinal Card account management online service. Catholic University only accepts deposits made with a Visa or MasterCard. You can also deposit cash directly on a student’s account by visiting the Leahy Hall Cashiers office (Room 155).
